Acupressure

Do you have a painful knot in your neck, your shoulder, or your back.
Sore points called knots develop when an area of the body is injured or over-worked.
A single event can initiate these knots called trigger points, or can also develop over time through muscle strain from repetitive movements, emotional stress, anxiety, allergies, nutritional deficiencies, inflammation, and toxins in the environment.
Once these knots are formed, our body compensates for the injury. The muscles and tissues in the area tighten and shorten. These hyper-irritated hardened knots can cause so much pain and tenderness that you alter the way you move, sit or stand to instinctively protect yourself. By limiting the use of the painful muscle, the muscle begins to weaken. Then these altered patterns of movement put abnormal stress on your other muscles, ligaments and joints. This leads to strength and flexibility imbalances as well as postural dysfunctions throughout your body which creates more soreness in other areas and a vicious cycle begins. Although these imbalances are causing the "physical" conditions and pain, many people begin to doubt their ability to heal and these negative beliefs keep most people in their pain because the mind is keeping the body from believing it can heal completely. You can get some relief from physical treatments, the right combination of corrective exercises and stretches, but this never seems to give complete or lasting relief. Combining these treatments with Acupressure, a very subtle technique that puts pressure on the painful knots, will clear the blocks and re-establish a balanced energy flow through out the body.
