"The Eyes Are the Windows of the Soul"
~William Shakespeare
Light is recognized as having a profound effect on all living things. We truly are light bodies. Our eyes are the entry point where light is taken in then sent to the body's light meter~the pineal gland. It's activity, regulated by environmental light changes and the Earth's electromagnetic field, is to send out hormonal messages that have a profound effect on the mind and body. It transmits information to the body pertaining to the length of daylight. In this way, our bodies stay closely attuned to nature and thereby able to make appropriate physiological adjustments that prepare us for upcoming environmental changes. On a physical level, light allows our biological rhythms to function smoothly and plays a major role in the stimulation and regulation of all the body's physiological processes. On a spiritual level it assists us in becoming synchronized with nature and one with the Universe.
During the fall the shortening of the day and the cycle of nature sends the signal to the body that it is a time to slow. Nature enters a magnificent period manifested in its many color changes. Autumn is the season of color. Color, is merely our perception of light of different wavelengths. While the days are shortening nature increases color (light) to help ease us into the resting pace of winter. Leaves embrace living in the question and exercise ultimate patience, knowing they will fall in their own time and arrive in the place where they will rest in preparation to begin life again. Nature manifests this Autumn wisdom to prepare us for the magical flight that will take us into the next stage of evolution, winter, where we move from spending our days in the external world into a time of internal exploration. To remain in balance, we too need to follow this wisdom and allow our bodies to synchronize our lifestyles for the shift of daylight.

In Five Element Theory, each season has a particular organ associated with it. During the change of season problems in the body tend to arise in the related organ if there is an imbalance.
